Message calculated for a certain set of parameters, including tire circum, & rear ratio. But, changing the rear tire size effectively changes the rear ratio, making the speedo read different than actual speed. It will also change the RPM the engine works at for a given 'true' MPH. This is what I was suggesting is his issue. His speed and typical RPM do not match by 5-8 mph. I think it is the wheel tire combo.

Call it what you will, speedo error or 'actual' speed error, the result is the same. the speedo is NOT registering the correct speed, and changing the speedo gear is the fix. I have been through a ton of wheel/tire combos on too many cars, and the resulting speedo corrections.

This is also one of the reasons that manufactuers strongly recommend not changing tire circum over 3%, because it will throw off the ABS calculations and resulting performance will degrade.
